Plant Swap In-Person
Join us outside next to the Library Greenspace for a plant swap. Bring unwanted plants, pots, seeds, or other gardening items to swap with other plant enthusiasts. All ages are welcome to this event.
Please read the following guidelines:
- Bring an indoor or outdoor plant in a pot you are willing to part with.
- Pots, seeds, and other plant care items are also great for swapping.
- Please make sure all of your plants are pest- and disease-free.
- Avoid bringing invasive species.
- Label your plants with the names and include some care tips if you can.
Swap Guidelines:
- Swapping is informal. There will be several tables set up for everyone to place their plants on as they arrive. Everyone will get a chance to browse for a few minutes, then you’ll be able to pick out some plants.
- The plant swap works on the honor system. For example, if you bring two plants, take two plants. We want there to be enough for everyone. Please wait until the end of the event to take extra items.
- If you bring plants that you just want to give away and not swap, please put them in the area designated for that to avoid confusion.
- Please be polite and make sure to give everyone space to set their items down before picking plants and do not start picking plants before the swap begins.
General Plant Swap Etiquette:
- General Do offer trades that are comparable in desirability and/or value
- Don't take anything from anyone's station without their consent
- Do stay respectful and kind with your fellow swappers
- Don't get offended when someone gets pushy or says no
- Do get away from your station every now and then to build relationships with your local plant community
- Don't feel bad if someone you traded with re-swaps your plant with someone else
